Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in Apache Kafka Administration and Middleware Support.
- Strong expertise in Kafka cluster setup, configuration, administration, and maintenance.
- Experience managing Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replication, and consumer groups.
- Knowledge of Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, and Confluent Platform.
- Experience with Linux system administration and distributed systems management.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture and real-time streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with Zookeeper and modern Kafka architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK Stack, or similar solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise Kafka clusters and streaming platforms.
- Configure Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replication factors, and retention policies.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and availability.
- Perform capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
- Implement Kafka security controls including SSL, SASL, ACLs, and authentication mechanisms.
- Manage Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and related platform components.
- Troubleshoot cluster issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Support application teams in Kafka integration and message streaming requirements.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity for Kafka environments.
- Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps teams, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Automate operational tasks and improve platform reliability.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
- Support platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
